Nearly one child in a hundred
worldwide is born with a serious
heart defect. These diseases are
often fatal and only surgery can cure them.
Heart surgery requires specialised
medical techniques, that are
extremely expensive and do
not exist in many countries.
Each operation costs €12,000.
The association Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque enables children with heart defects from disadvantaged countries to be operated on in France when it is impossible for them to be treated in their own country due to lack of technical or financial means.
Hosted by volunteer families and operated on in France, more than 4000 children have already been taken care of since the creation of the Association in 1996.
